Rugby Jamboree IV
Happy New Year to all the rugby collectors, connoisseur hobbyists, historians, archivists, chroniclers, and writers it is Rugby Jamboree time again.
Book in the weekend of 21-22 March 2026. The day one venue is Marist Sports, 19 Pascal St, Palmerston North. The day two venue is Wilkins Theatre, Te Manawa, 326 Main St, Palmerston North.
If you have a collection worth bragging about, a pet project to show off, an idea for a book, a growing website or a much needed database - come along and share.
Marist Sports club are celebrating 100 years (1926) since they formed, and 50 years (1976) since their Society became incorporated. Paul O’Brien is a club legend and was recently recognised with a civic award by the city of Palmerston North. Paul will speak on the Sunday about the club, from a rugby point of view.

1996 – Super Rugby kicks off. All Blacks “Incomparables” win Test Series in South Africa for first time
1986 – Cavaliers tour to South Africa
1976 – All Blacks tour to South Africa and then Argentina. Manawatu win Ranfurly Shield
1951 – New Zealand Universities tour followed by All Blacks tour to Aus. Ron Jarden discovered
1926 – New Zealand Maori world tour
1876 – First-class rugby played in Auckland for first time – Auck. clubs vs Waikato clubs
At this stage we are NOT planning on charging an attendance fee. We think that if you’re coming from Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland, or Australia, the cost of transport and accommodation will be enough of a burden.
We will organise a get-together for drinks and a meal on the Saturday evening.
