Owen Franks

8 September 2010

Owen Franks has represented New Zealand at Under-21 and Secondary School level.

The tighthead prop was Campbell Johnstone's understudy and assumed greater responsibility after Johnstone's move to play in France halfway through the last Air New Zealand Cup. Franks’ older brother Ben, also a prop, has been a Crusader for the last two seasons.

Owen made his debut for the Crusaders in 2009 when coming on as a substitute against the Force and made his first start in the victory over the Bulls where he made a big impact against the big South Africans.

He scored his first Super rugby try against the Reds in what was his eighth game.
