Neemia Tialata

1 August 2010

Young prop Neemia Tialata thrust himself into the All Blacks selection frame with his strong play for Wellington throughout the 2005 Air New Zealand NPC and made his Test debut in the first match of the All Blacks UK & Ireland Tour against Wales in November.

Formerly a loosehead prop, Tialata now concentrates his efforts on the tighthead side of the scrum but retains the valuable ability to cover both sides. Tialata is a strong defender and a bustling runner in the tight exchanges.

In his downtime from rugby he is a keen guitar player and an artist with a flair for painting.

Career Notes
• Brought up 100 first-class appearances against France at Auckland in June 2007.
• Was the only All Black to appear in all three of the 2006 early-season Tests, coming off the bench in two Tests against Ireland in New Zealand and against Argentina in Buenos Aires.
• Compiled a streak of 46 consecutive Rebel Sport Super 14 matches for the Hurricanes, through to the end of the 2007 competition.
• Was never selected for a national age-grade team.
