Thorn’s made a huge impact since his move to rugby union from league.
After initially experimenting as a loose forward, Thorn settled at lock in 2003 and made rapid strides as he developed into a key member of both the Crusaders and All Blacks’ packs.
He was first selected for the All Blacks at the end of 2001 but withdrew so that he could take time to decide on his sporting future.
He played seven seasons for the Brisbane Broncos in the NRL before switching to union.
